State Farm Polybutylene Pipe Insurance Class Action Lawsuit

Caddell & Chapman obtained certification of a class of Arizona State Farm insureds in a class action lawsuit over State Farm’s failure to reimburse them for repairs to leaking polybutylene (PB) pipe in their homes. Plaintiffs alleged that State Farm breached their insurance policies by failing to pay the costs incurred in tearing out and replacing the part of the structure necessary to replace the PB piping after the plumbing system developed leaks.

On January 13, 2014, Judge Jesus G. Bernal approved a settlement in a class action against Farmers Insurance. Caddell & Chapman represented a class of Farmers insureds in Arizona who suffered losses in excess of their policy limits. Hurricane Katrina Insurance Claims

Michael Caddell and John Scofield were retained to evaluate over 400 business and personal insurance claims arising from wind damage caused by Hurricane Katrina along the Mississippi coast. Within months of retention, the firm successfully resolved approximately 40 of the disputes, and they initiated lawsuits for almost 100 pending claims. Construction Defect Litigation

Caddell & Chapman resolved part of a major construction defect case involving an $85 million, 30‑story condominium tower on South Padre Island in Texas. The tower, having suffered extreme differential settlement during its construction, will be imploded in December 2009.
